Catherine Dow LLB Hons
Catherine is a highly accomplished solicitor having qualified in 1983, and with a wide range of experience.
After graduating in Law, Catherine completed her Solicitor’s Finals Course at the College of Law in Guildford, before undertaking her Articles of Clerkship with a West End Practice.
Following her qualification in 1983, Catherine joined the Metropolitan Police Solicitors Department at New Scotland Yard, where she remained until 1987 advising the Police in relation to prosecutions and representing the Police on a regular basis as an Advocate in the various London Magistrates Courts. Whilst there, Catherine was selected to join with lawyers from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to take part in the “Bow Street Pilot Scheme,” which set the framework for the process of prosecutions which exists today in England and Wales.
After her marriage in 1989, Catherine moved out of London to Buckinghamshire, to specialise in the practice of Family Law with firm in which she took Partnership. After the birth of her children, Catherine then spent ten years as Head of the Family Department at another successful practice, before joining Breakthrough Family Law Solutions in July 2009.
Catherine continues to specialise in private client family law, with an emphasis on Ancillary Relief, and Children Act matters. She is an Accredited Specialist with Resolution.

Collaborative Law
The collaborative family law process is a modern way of dealing with family disputes. Each person appoints their own lawyer and the parties all meet together to negotiate and work things out face to face (avoiding endless letters, phone calls and ultimately, a court appearance).
