At Breakthrough Solicitors we offer a variety of charges and fees which we believe to be competitive. However, please note we will always have an initial discussion to explain how we calculate our fees, the likely costs involved to prepare and run your matter, any additional costs that may be incurred and any costs that may be recoverable from, or payable by you, to any other party.
Our approach is to offer a range of pricing options from low cost ‘do it yourself’ packages, fixed price legal services and a fixed hourly fee which should assist you to make a decision about a fee structure that works best for your individual set of circumstances.
Depending on your individual circumstances, Breakthrough Solicitors may be able to offer the following funding options:
Fixed Fee – On some matters, we may be able to represent you on a fixed fee basis. This means one of our experienced solicitors will assess your matter and provide you with a fixed fee to get you to a particular resolution. For some matters, we may be able to offer a fixed fee in set stages of your matter which will provide you with even greater flexibility.
Agreed Hourly Rate – This is the traditional fee structure which means that a solicitor will assess your matter and provide a fully flexible option on an hour by hour basis. You will be given information about the likely overall cost and you will be updated as to these costs as your matter progresses.
Probate (uncontested cases with all assets in the UK)
At Breakthrough Solicitors we understand that dealing with the death of a friend or family member can be a challenging experience and we, therefore, provide a comprehensive probate service in which we take responsibility for the administration of an Estate from beginning to end and dealing with Inheritance Tax Returns, Obtaining the Grant of Probate and Distribution of the Estate.
Typically, this can take between 4 and 30 hours of a solicitor’s time at an average of £250 / hour so total costs are estimated between £1,000 and £7,500 (+ VAT).
However, the exact cost very much depends on individual circumstances; where matters are very straightforward and there is only one beneficiary and little by way of assets, costs will be at the lower end of the range but if there is more than one beneficiary, numerous assets / bank accounts then costs are likely to be at the higher end of the range. If the Estate is particularly big and/or complicated (such as if there is a claim against the Estate or assets are located abroad), there may be additional costs which we will set out at the outset as soon as we have had an opportunity to review the Estate.
There are likely to be disbursement expenses related to your matter that have to be paid to third parties such as probate application and land charge department fees.
On average, obtaining the Grant of Probate takes between 8-12 weeks and administration of an uncontested Estate where all assets are in the UK typically dealt with within 3-9 months.
